Linda Manguiat-Herzog was born in the Philippines, but has lived in the U.S. for most of her life. Her dedication to become a painter was inspired by a plein air painting class in the 1980's taught by Joe Peter from the Cincinnati Art Academy. She has been exhibiting her work since her first solo show in 1990. She works in both small and large scale canvases. Her medium is primarily oils, though she paints with acrylics and watercolor in her travels. Linda has travelled widely in her artistic pursuits, painting or drawing in Italy, Malta, Greece, Turkey, Spain, England, France and Japan. Her heroes in painting are Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, and Hans Hoffman. Linda's work is on exhibit at Manguiat Studio, Suite #317, Park Trades Center, Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Artist Statement

“My paintings reflect an interest in color and varied subject matter. There are landscapes, still life, portraits, figures, interiors, and abstract works. A common theme in my work is the use of vibrant colors, often applied thickly, which reflects the energy and excitement that I feel when I am painting.”
-Linda Manguiat-Herzog
